Online Games Site Upgrades to 1gbit uplink to Meet Growing Demand

Online Games Site Upgrades to 1gbit uplink to Meet Growing Demand

PlayedOnline.com has just moved to brand new QuadCore servers on a 1Gbit fiber uplink to meet the incredibly fast growing demand for the site’s popular Online Games. Since its launch, PlayedOnline.com has gained incredible popularity amongst online flash based games fans. The website has had over ten million game sessions in total, with the numbers growing every day.

“We are very happy with the results we were able to achieve in such a short time after its launch in December 2005,” says Mike Patton of PlayedOnline.com.” We were actually a bit shocked to find out that we were running out of bandwidth and the servers weren’t keeping up. It came as a surprise that our resource started duplicating traffic weekly or even bi-weekly, people just love fast and accessible online games,” he added.

The most popular game on the website is Tetris -– an old time classic that was played over 200k times alone. The second leader is the Sega old-timer Sonic the Hedgehog. Third place is dominated by Pacman.

Research has shown that people playing these old time classics find other favorite, yet somehow forgotten, games they have enjoyed years ago. Thanks to PlayedOnline.com, these games are easily playable online and can be enjoyed pretty much from any device –- be it a PC, a Mac, or even a Wii or a portable browser-equipped gadget.

During the past few months traffic studies have shown that there was a huge increase in Direct Traffic. Obvious explanation to that would be that people share their resources offline. This isn’t typical for online resources other than social networks. In fact, it is really hard to find a good online gaming resource that would be both fast and user friendly, thus explaining the will to share peoples’ experiences offline.

The URL is also catchy. Much like “The Wii” that sounds just like the word “We”, the name PlayedOnline is used a lot in daily speech. This is a great marketing scheme to brand your domain, as when people pronounce the phrase “played online”, the sub-conscious automatically makes a reference to the site, and you would most likely remember it during the conversation with the phrase mentioned in it.

With the new servers installed, PlayedOnline.com will be able to handle the growing demand for years, or maybe just months to come. “It is our hope to continue providing free, fast and hassle free entertainment for years to come,” added Mike Patton.
